Services Metallographic Studies

Metallurgical Investigations provide inputs for material processing and failure analysis. Conventional methods like spectrometry, optical microscopy, mechanical testing, thermal methods like TGA and DMA and advanced techniques like Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy and X-ray Diffraction are also utilized. Chemical composition, metallurgical microstructural changes , material imperfections , notches, segregation, metallurgical instabilities, metallurgical discontinuities, such as slag, inclusions, cracks, fissures, segregation, and lamellar tearing of steel and other material defects are catalogued and the probable metallurgical causes for failure are determined.

Metallurgical and mechanical property degradation of the component during service can be assessed. This information is helpful in assessing the condition of industrial components.

At AEIS, we obtain test data by carrying out metallurgical tests in our in-house facilities and also at various accredited laboratories and engineering institutions for specialized techniques. Thereafter, experts at AEIS assemble and analyze the data and information to provide a comprehensive final report of findings.
