NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING

ULTRASONIC THICKNESS TESTING (NDT204)

Who should attend?
This course is designed for the individual engaged in ultrasonic thickness monitoring using digital readout instruments. This could be measuring thickness of incoming material and parts, of items on the shop floor, or production articles. Thickness monitoring is also extensively used for measuring thickness on bridge decks.

Technicians starting point: Trainee
Minimum required work experience in Method: 40 Hours

Why this course by AEIS?
Participants learn Ultrasonic thickness testing on a wide variety of materials and product forms. Materials used for practice during the course are carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and copper. Pipes, plates sheets are all evaluated for thickness testing, After this course, trainees can confidently start performing thickness testing at their workplace (provided minimum required work experience hours are met).

What are the Program highlights?

  • Introduction to Ultrasonic
  • Basic Principles of Acoustics
  • Equipment and Materials for Ultrasonic Thickness Testing
  • Techniques and Calibrations
  • Variable affecting Test Results
  • Procedure per ASTM E 797
