NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING

ULTRASONIC TESTING LEVEL II WELD (NDT301)

Who should attend?
Individuals involved in flaw evaluation of welds using Ultrasonic testing must possess Level II certification. This training program is a step towards that direction.

Technicians starting point: UT Level I with welding inspection experience
Minimum required work experience in Method: 630 Hours
Total Hours in NDT: 1200

Why this course by AEIS?
Ultrasonic testing of welds is a very effective and truly volumetric NDT method of weld inspection. UT of welds has its own nuances for different types of weld geometries. Technical personnel involved in performing and/ or supervising ultrasonic testing of welds should take this course. The UT Level II – Weld course is geared towards those primarily involved in ultrasonic testing of welds. Numerous instruments ensure hands-on practice by all students. Approximately 60% instruction hours are spent on hands-on exercises and 40% on theory. Multimedia presentations using flash images ensure faster delivery and better retention of fundamentals. Practice on a large number of flaws in “field simulated samples” enable qualified individuals to perform testing in the field with greater confidence. Samples include welded joints in plates with and without backing bars, circumferential/ longitudinal welded pipes, and T-Y-K connections.

What are the Program highlights?

  • Review of Ultrasonic Level I Course
  • Discontinuity Detection
  • Evaluation System performance per AWS D1 and ASME Sec V Codes
  • Inspection Procedures as per AWS D1.1, D1.5 and ASME Sec V Codes
  • Evaluation of Base-Metal Discontinuities and Weldments per AWS D1.1, D1.5; ASME Sec VIII Div1, and B31.1

When?
