AEIS utilizes portable XRF devices such as Niton XL3t Potable RF Analyzer for Positive material Identification (PMI) as per ASTM E1476 and API RP578.

All technicians performing tests in the field and/ or laboratory are trained and certified for performing work as per relevant standards and specifications. All work is performed utilizing written procedures and utilizes Standard reference materials (SRMs) from NIST or Brammer.

XRFOur technicians can assist you in:

  • Quickly verifying alloys
  • Establish lost material traceability
  • Verify filler material composition and dilution rates in welds
  • Confirm the integrity of process piping, valves, and reaction vessels

Our personnel have peformed PMI on:

  • Rods and wire strands
  • Finished welds and weld beads
  • Bolts, rivets, and other fasteners
  • Valves and flanges
  • Complete reaction vessels

The instrumentation utilized has a comprehensive library that provide alloy chemistry for up to 30 of the most common elements in tens of thousands of alloy grades.  Alloys that can be accurately identified and analyzed include:

  • Stainless steels
  • Cr-Mo steels including vanadium and tungsten stabilized versions
  • Low alloy steel
  • Tool steels
  • Nickel, copper, titanium, and aluminum alloys
  • Exotics, such as zirconium and tantalum alloys
