Visual Inspection is the first NDT known to man. It is also, even today, the most utilized and valuable NDT method. Visual Inspection can be classified into two broad categories: Direct and Remote (Borescope) Visual Inspection.

Direct visual inspection is performed with the surface of a test piece in the line of sight of the examiner. For remote visual inspection, optical devices such as borescopes, fibroscopes, videoscopes etc are utilized to image area under consideration in the eye piece and/ or LCD panel.

Some of the visual inspection activities performed by AEIS personnel include:

  • Visual Weld Inspections
  • Incoming material inspections
  • Dimensional Inspections
  • Visual thread inspection and profile gauging
  • Surface flaw evaluation of fabricated components
  • Blasting and pipe coating inspection services
  • Hydrostatic Pressure test witness

Our engineers and inspectors are adept at using the latest tools and instrumentation required for performing visual inspection. In addition, they are conversant with the relevant codes such as ASME B 31.1, B31.3, Section I, II, III, IV, V, VII, VIII, IX and X; API 620, 650, 1104; AWS D1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8 etc. for performing visual inspection of materials and welds.
